Ivey would be my guess....he has been groomed, been in high level places, (national team) and played there....Pitino is public about wanting out, but he is slimy and I would think that TX would want to make a home run hire to distance themselves from current environment as fast as possible.

I'd be open to someone else if there is actually a plan. Too often, the coaching searches seem like they are focused on the impossible never-gets (Few, Jay Price, Doc Rivers) or the never-will-bes (Groce).

I wouldn’t “want” Underwood to leave, and I don’t think he will. But can’t say I wouldn’t be intrigued by what Illinois would do if he were to. I think this is a good time to hire a coach (if an appealing program were to need to).

Illinois next coach should be Billy Donavan after the Bulls fire him.

Or I still like Sean Miller.  Hasn’t gotten over hump to the FF, but plenty of elite 8s.
