I practiced and studied various forms of Buddhism on and off for 50 + years. I have some inkling of whassup, but there is much more to learn. I meet people who read a book or took a comparative religion course and think they know it all and try to explain it to me.
One thing that is interesting is there is no single Buddhist term that means meditation. There are mental exercises to cultivate the mind, to develop good habits and attitudes, get rid of harmful attitudes and habits, and improve awareness and concentration; all with the aim of awakening spiritual insight.
