The Hassan Minaj Daily Show interview with Kevin O'Leary is pretty good, but he made one error. He got into it with O'Leary about "retail investors" vs big VC's like O'Leary. O'Leary says that 80% of startups fail, Minaj argues he shouldn't be selling the dream to retail investors.

But the people who got the most screwed in the FTX debacle weren't retail *investors* - they were retail *customers*. Even if you consider bitcoin an "investment", and whether bitcoin is a good investment or a bad investment, those people had bitcoin, which may fluctuate in value, but when FTX went kaput they lost their bitcoin. Their investment didn't go south, their brokerage did.

Pets.com was a bad deal for investors - caveat emptor - but the customers paid for dog food and got dog food. FTX screwed their customers - including people whose deposits were US Dollars. O'Leary keeps deflecting, but he was a paid spokesman for a fraud.

(That guy's backstory is pretty crazy too - he made his money by buying some small children's software company and basically destroying Hasbro by tricking Hasbro into overpaying to buy it from him).

I am personally not much into group guided meditation events. I don't have any objections per se.

Meditation training would probably be beneficial while that person is locked up. It is not either / or.

I am not talking about trendy meditation retreats, although I don't have a problem with those.

The underlying principles of right (mental) effort/exercise, right mindfulness, and right concentration have a variety of therapeutic applications that are already being used in some contexts.

I don’t think the burning/looting/rioting would have been nearly as bad if it weren’t for the angst and anxiety that had built up as a result of the pandemic and the lockdowns.

It also wouldn’t have been as bad if the message from the left was that this behavior was A-OK, because ultimately it was happening under Trump’s watch, and they’d rather burn the country down with “mostly peaceful protests” than have him get re-elected.

The world could have used a lot more meditation in 2020, that’s for sure.

It wasn’t because George Floyd “deserved” martyrdom because of his character as a person. It’s because he was a human being who was robbed of his life needlessly by callous police officers. This happens too often in our society. Particularly to people of a certain color.

You've just described 75% of the US population, at least. He happened to die, on camera, and a lot of people realized that they are one random event away from getting killed by a Chauvin like piece of shit, and they probably won't be on camera when it happens.

Think about it - I don't personally like guns, but there are 400 million of them in the US, so there are millions of motor vehicles out there with guns in them. Cop pulls someone over that has a gun, and the cop is a bit addled, you could die, just for exercising this constitutional right and exceeding the speed limit.

That's some grade A hyperbole there. We went to Portland a couple months ago, I have a buddy who lives 6 blocks from Frank Ogawa plaza and visit him monthly. Strangely I saw no burned out buildings and the Starbucks were all open.

I haven't attended any protests, but know a few who did. According to them, the violence was isolated and agitated by extremist groups, mostly anarchists.
