Side note: I shy away from using the word "felon" and stick to the actual crimes - I mean Sam Bankman Fried and Elizabeth Holmes were convicted of many felonies.

The other problem with the lock'em up approach is the collateral damage. Defendants who can afford bail and private attorneys are on the street and get fair and speedy trials.

The poor rot in jail waiting for their cases to be called, and are sometimes coerced into accepting plea deals.

I agree that is an extremely huge problem. Maybe crappy prosecutors are a problem too.

If the crime problem in Chicago is because of bad gun stores, then the problem isn't any DA, it's the NRA who won't let Chicago shut them down
