I would like to not live in that world either, but in the real world, people equate lifesaving mask wearing with being marched off to the gas chambers. When people can make reasonable decisions that don’t put innumerable lives at risk, the government won’t have to tell them what to wear any more.

Many times they're confused and misinformed.  We've heard similar arguments against seat belts, hard hats, helmets for bikes, skiing, and motorcycles, hearing protection,  safety glasses/goggles, PPE for medical procedures, lead vests for radiation and many others for decades.  Your urologist didn't use to wear gloves!  No one's complaining about these protections now except the Mensa group in Sturgis.

There are other countries that are currently doing better than the US that have no mask mandates so saying "wearing masks is life saving" is very debatable. I personally believe that the issue has to do with social distancing more than wearing masks. Like having massive protests and riots during a pandemic. I also think not cancelling Sturgis was a moronic move.

This comes down to turnout - she will have a positive impact on the African American vote turnout, especially with African American Women. And that's key in a lot of swing states.

People didn't have to wear a mask in those countries because they weren't allowed to leave their homes.
