If you want to make a run at changing gun laws, organize a bunch of tough, disciplined ex-military black guys to open carry AR-15s (where legal) outside of where wealthy white people gather. 

I would prefer that it be made illegal for people to go to a public protest armed, but I think that ship has sailed. 

We all knew this was coming.  Not only is there a thriving market for guns in our country, there’s now a growing market for a fight.  Not good.

That might work, except when people show up at the peaceful protest armed for action. 

And if rioting and looting happen later in the evening when the hooligans come out, I would expect the police (and national guard if necessary) who have recieved the appropriate crowd control training to intervene to protect public safety and property.  This is not a job for private citizens, especially when they travel from outside the area.

Why "except" when people show up with gun? If they can legally carry them, it is, usually, not a problem. It is the people illegally carrying them that are usually the problem.

As for the remainder, the problem, as we have seen, is when the cops "stand down" and don't do their job. That is what led to the issue in Kenosha in the 1st place. The State's Attorney and the Chief Judge is currently why downtown Chicago is a shitshow.

And, if you had read up on it,  you would know that the dumbass kid did have a connection to Kenosha.

Joseph Rosebaum was an unarmed bipolar mental patient who had been released from the hospital after a suicide attempt. Kyle Rittenhouse was a scared 17 year old heavily armed vigilante who had not been trained in deescalation techniques. The real police were 3 or 4 blocks away hiding in tanks. No surprise that did not end well.

On your second point.  If people want “cops to do their jobs”, that’s a decision for our elected officials.  If you don’t like the job they are are doing, then work with others to ramp up the political pressure.  It seems to be working in other cities where politicians are adding funds back into police departments.

As to the 1st point,  it is well documented that two criminals are dead because they acted like assholes. Good riddance to those 2 fucks. Defending those 2 assholes are not a hill to die on, so to speak.
