Both sides spin the truth. That has been going on since Adams and Jefferson locked horns.

The government also lies to some extent. They seem to think they need to protect us from the truth.

Cover stories are part of life to protect us from ourselves.

Nixon took lying to an extreme because he equated his personal interests with national security. He famously said if the President did it; it was legal.

The Trump Admin has taken that to another level. Trump's personal interests are the national interest. If the President, or his people say it; then it's true.

The Shutdown basically comes down to this. The GOP declares they want a clean CR and they'll deal with the subsidies in December.

The Democrats don't believe them.

I don't know, Tempo. Two weeks ago I was reading articles about how the the VA and NJ Dem centrist governor candidates were too moderate, not exciting the base, and were poised to lose, and yet the both won state-wide ekections by double digits....

Anyone running in a purplish state/city is going to beat Trump candidates right now. What did the progressive candidates look like in those elections? Were there any?
