A handful of cherry picked anecdotes.

Turns out millions and millions of Hispanic people came here through proper channels and are hard working tax paying citizens. They actually didn’t want millions more to flood the country illegally with more cheap labor while soaking up taxpayer money in the form of benefits that aren’t even available to citizens. Even ones that came in illegally years and years ago and have made a life for themselves don’t have some vested interest in just letting anybody and everybody in. It’s really only progressive white people who feel that way.

Immigrants who came here years ago are illegally being subjected to expedited removal..same with those who had been paroled, protected, or who were in the process of seeking asylum, etc. The border is closed to new asylum.seekers. all illegally

Trump closed the border without new laws because he is ignoring current laws.

Maybe a majority voted for that?

So much for originalism and the rule of law.

I looked at it. They spoke with 15 people.

The Mexican fella who is my mechanic was bitching to me this week that "[his] president" was making it too hard to get parts. So he's not happy. He did claim under Trump I that he was not going to vote for Trump again as he felt he was sold a bill of goods. Maybe living inder Brandon Johnson changed his mind.

My wife is a Mexican immigrant, now a naturalized US citizen.  She voted for Harris and one of her brothers voted for Trump.  Her other brother did not vote in 2024 but was leaning Trump.  The brothers prioritized immigration, followed by the economy, and expressed some discomfort with voting for a female POTUS.  Both brothers were Obama and Biden voters but did not vote for in 2016.  They live in Texas, one in a border town. 

No question that Biden screwed up on immigration by not seriously addressing it early in his term.  That obviously helped Trump make inroads on the issue.  The good news is that both brothers are still open to voting for Democrats.  Neither have an enduring fondness for Trump or his MAGA supporters.  They are uneasy about his deportation program but are willing to let things play out for the time being. 

I think Democrats can win back both brothers, but it will require that they understand that many Latinos will prioritize their interests differently.  My wife’s two brothers are winnable for the Democratic party in 2028 with a different candidate and message.
