Zero tolerance is bullshit to begin with. All law enforcement uses discretion. Nobody wants to live in a police state.

The net results of zero tolerance have a disaster. Immigration courts are backlogged, resources were diverted from what should have been higher priorities, families unnecessarily separated. She shoots that double speak at him. He was too much of a gentleman to fire back.

We need to decriminalize simple unlawful entry. Make it a civil offense.

See above. They could’ve got the border patrol agents and courts/judges implemented but instead went with IRS agents…

They should have done both. It's not either/or. Republicans could have too, but diverted resources to their inane zero tolerance.

It appears beginning with the Trump Administration,  someone lost track of some unaccompanied minors for whatever reason.

Blumenthal did mention that his bill regarded 1000 kids. Oh, and he did request Noem's support for his bill during her confirmation hearing.

Are the kids separated from parents due to Trump's failed  zero tolerance policy part of the unaccompanied minors?

Just like some foster children wind up in unsafe conditions. The foster system needs work, the corrections systems need work. The Republican solution is to cut "wasteful" spending.

Guys it’s ok if some of the migrant children are in unsafe situations, because some foster kids are too. We'll do better next time!
