"Straining resources" is a polite way of saying the Biden administration caused border issues we haven't seen before.
2/3-3/4 of the country wanted border control. The Biden administration would have nothing to do with that until they determined that it was a losing proposition.

Biden’s border security policies didn’t go far enough, but it’s not like he sat on his hands during the last four years.

They destroyed what every previous administration has used for border policy.
The House had a border deal. It was DOA on arrival in the Senate.
The administration reverted to some semblance of border control when it became obvious to them that their border policies were a failure. But the country had seen thru their failures.
People who fail on the issue should not be given input on addressing border policies.

Have you lost your mind? Biden campaigned on relaxed borders. For his administration the open borders were a feature, not a bug. As Mn said, it wasn’t until it became clear that it was going to cost them the election that anything was done.

Biden went too far no matter how anyone tries to frame it and the House gave the Senate a border package that was DOA at the Senate.
The American public saw thru it and rejected his border policies much the same as Schumer rejected the House border package.

Dude was way too old to be running in 2020, and WAY to old to run again in 2024, depriving us all of a competitive primary which may or may not (right) have resulted in a different nominee on the Democratic side.

Disagree he didn’t open the border, it’s not even debatable. It seems you and alum and Ray have resorted to arguing the meaning of “open” rather than actually refuting the massive influx of illegals under his watch.

Don't give a shit.  He wasn't in charge in 2019.  Will readily admit there was a surge in immigration under his watch, which had a lot to do with an ultra-hot labor market.

I was told the surge in immigration was due to asylum seekers and that the border was under control.
I must have missed the labor arguments presented by Biden and/or Mayorkas after Biden assumed office. But I doubt it.
