Trump was clearly confused about who was called, when, and why.

If we believe Anthony Ornato, Meadows contacted DC Mayor on Trump's behalf. It was not about protecting the Capital. In his cited words.

Trump claims he talked to Nancy Pelosi about protecting the Capital. On one occasion, he confused Pelosi with Nikki Haley.

General Milley says Meadows made the calls only after VP Pence had contacted Christopher Miller from the Capital. And it was for optics.

Pelosi is not solely responsible for Capital Security. It's a team effort.

Meadows talking to Mayor Bowser about making the NG available to protect the mall is not the same as Trump talking to Speaker Pelosi about making the NG available to protect the Capital.

It's funnier to assume the Federalist or Chairman Loudermilk are being  anything but Trump apologists.

The funniest part, even if we accept their claims, they don't exonerate Trump.

The goal on Jan 6 was for Pence NOT to certify the election. Pence told them he was not going along with the plan. We saw what happened afterwards, including Trump refusing to call off the mob despite being advised to do so by the people around him. But sure, let's make believe he cared about Capitol security after he found out Pence was not going along with Chesebro's fantasy plan.

And my understanding has always been that the request was to delay the certification for up to 10 days in order that time was available to review the suits in Ga. And it's my understanding that nothing explicitly prevents requesting a delay in certification nor does anything define the role of the VP in the certification process.

If, and I'm not sure that the suit mentioned in The Federalist has ever been resolved, the suits had merit then Trump would have to have electors available for certification.
The Dec 3 suit, filed in a timely manner, wasn't addressed by the courts in the timeframe required by Ga law.
And lack of faith in Ga elections was nothing new. " Democrats also saw a systemic effort ....." in a NYT June 10, 2020 article. Less than 6 months later and the Republicans saw a systemic effort.

You can say what you want about Trump and Capitol security, but he is the person who suggested 10,000 NG troops and he isn't the person who turned down the offer.

The goal was to delay it with baseless lawsuits and present the slates of Fake Electors from swing states as planned by the now indicted and soon to be disbarred Eastman and convicted criminal Chesebro. But first, Pence had to not agree to certify the election. He refused to play along with this treacherous plot. We all saw what happened next and who did what and who did not do what to subvert the peaceful transfer of power. He wanted to pressure Pence.

66 lawsuits were filed and all of them were tossed. They were and are baseless. Stop being a sucker for this bullshit they are throwing up against the wall to cover their asses.
