I don't see any problem with celebrating people of color who were elected. You're acting like it's ancient history that they were just excluded from the political process - it isn't. The first POC (and also, the first woman) to be mayor in Boston was sworn in in 2021 (in an interim role). Until that time, every single mayor of Boston had been a white man. Literally the first non white man elected as Boston mayor was ... Michelle Wu.
Excluding people based on skin color is basically never going to be okay. Celebrating POC being elected should be a repudiation of that, rather than an extension of it.
