In our two party system; the left, like the right, is not one monolithic entity. However, since the right is currently dominated by ethnic nationalists and predatory capitalists; they would have us believe the left consists mainly of globalist communists out to destroy America, Christianity, white people, and the free market system.

There are a significant number of socialists on the left. They are not communists because they do not want class warfare, violent revolution, a dicatorship  of the proletariat and so on. They call themselves Democratic Socialists and their agenda is not a secret:   

Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

I personally am disenamored with predatory capitalism.  Even at its ethical best, the invisible hand of capitalism does not produce an equitable supply of education, mass transportation, or healthcare. The tobacco hearings, the subprime mortgage scandals, Exxon’s climate science coverup and similar events  offer proof that private enterprise does not always act in its own or its customers best interest.

The role of government in a social democracy is to mitigate the shortcomings and abuses of private enterprise and free markets. Organized labor should have a seat at the table too.  Since all three are prone to corruption -- they are composed of humans -- there has to be checks and balances.

You routinely—perhaps obsessively—rant against the actions and words of our elected officials, yet simultaneously plead for the elected officials within our government to intervene on a greater scale.

I don’t have an issue with the points you make, I guess I just have a hard time understanding how we get from point A to point B with the system as it currently exists.

I assume you think that the Democratic Party offers we the people the best opportunity to achieve your ideological concepts, but the best they can offer us is an addled, boring old man.

If there was ever a time for a legitimate third party candidate to step in, it would be now.
