WHEN: October 15 (Saturday!)
TIME: 11:00 AM CDT (Early sucks!)
AGAINST: Stupid boat rowing Minnesota fuckers
WHERE: Champaign!
TV: BTN (booo)
CHEAP TICKETS! $24 for the next 24 hours per the email I just received!
EVENT: Homecoming!!! And some shit called WITH ILLINOIS CELEBRATION/FOUNDATION WEEKEND
From FightingIllini.com:

Quote
The Illini football game is final activity in a week-long celebration of Illinois alumni returning to campus. Homecoming week at Illinois celebrates the 111th year of Illinois traditions. This year's theme is "We are FamILLy."
Events include a pep rally on the quad Monday at 5 p.m., the With Illinois Campaign Celebration Close on Friday from 6-10 p.m. in Grange Grove, a Sky Show of drones on Friday at 8 p.m. in Grange Grove, and the Homecoming parade on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
More information is available at homecoming.illinois.edu.

VSIN aggregator has the original line at Minn -4, o/u 40.5. With Danny DeVito, Williams, and who knows who else, out, the betting public has shown no faith in Barry Lunney getting Hard Art Sitkowski ready. Line now at -6 to -6.5 Minn and the o/u down to 38.5 to 38.

Yeah, without Danny DeVito I am not thinking Illinois will be ranked next week. Maybe tickets for MSU will be $45 when we are in the "Among Others Receiving Votes" list.

Last year we dominated them at their place behind a stellar stat line of 7-9 for 80 yards from Brandon Peters. Chase Brown ate them up on the ground and the defense shut them down. The 21 Gofer was likely better than the 22 iteration.

That said, don’t feel good at all about playing them without DeVito with this much on the line.

The fishwrap has been telling me that the 22 gofs are better than the 21 gofs, but I assume that was before Autman-Bell got hurt. But the gofs losing to PU was not expected, and they've had an extra week to stew about it.
And I don't look at it as having this much on the line. I didn't expect wins the last 2 weeks and this team has exceeded my expectations.
Wins over 3 of the programs that we want to be able to compete with in year 2 of Bielema would be huge.

There’s no doubt there’s a lot on the line. This team has created greater expectations. Homecoming game against a beatable opponent, first ranking in 11 years, certain bowl berth on the line. It’s a game we really need to win to keep the momentum going and not fall into a tailspin like we saw in 2011.

Temper the expectations, it's one game at a time. No matter what happens vs the gofs, we still have winnable games vs Nebraska and Sparty following the gofs. but those are losable games also.
My experience was that homecoming was the worst game experience of the year. The alums would sit on their hands during the game, if they weren't at the concession stands so they could be back in their seats for halftime to go oooh and aaah.
The ranking is great, don't get me wrong,  but if we're missing 4 starters it's next man up. We'll either move up, or we won't. Watching a team play week in and week out and actually look like a team has been long overdue. If there's a stumble here or there, it happens to the best of them.
Stay focused and healthy and we can go 8-4, maybe 9-3, or ..... I won't go there.
But it's still 1 game at a time.  :D

We won't go 9-3. We'll either be 10-3 or 9-4 going into the bowls if we start 9-3

Crazy how close the Illini are to being 6-0. Was wondering today when I heard Josh Whitman on The Score, how much credit does Lovie get here? Obviously Bielema gets most of it, but is the core still pretty much Lovie’s players? As you know, I barely pay attention to Illini football anymore.

Lovie gets credit for the attitude in the program that has allowed Illinois to bring in transfers, irrespective of their talent, from programs like Michigan, Georgia, USC, Miami of Fla and a Syracuse starting qb.
Players are coming to C-U saying they're treated differently in C-U than other schools they have considered. It appears to be a rather common refrain from both transfers and recruits.
FamILLy.
Credit for coaching the players up goes to Bielema. Even if he is trash.

Do we know the status of Bielema's driver's license?

He might not have a bus driver's license.

Maybe Parkins or Bernstein can look into that.

Unless he’s changed (I honestly couldn’t say), I stand by Bielema basically being a trash individual. But I’ve always said he’s a real college football coach. Lots of college coaches are trash. A lot of them are good coaches, too.
