It's *almost* as if whomever wrote the headline didn't read the article.

Both headlines are solid. They aren't intended to go into details. DeSantis signed a bill that is the first step in using a potentially cancer causing material in road building. A Florida Study would rubber stamp it. If it is no less safe than the mess they have now, the EPA would approve.

It’s 2023. Whoever isn’t in favor of complete legalization of marijuana is a dumb hick.

That screenshot tells me nothing. A link would help.

None of the discussions I have seen disputed the content of the marijuana moment article.

What you cited in meaningless and was basically already the law.

In Florida, only persons with specific conditions who are recommended by a doc can obtain a MM card. It goes w/o saying they can't share with others.

https://socommjclinic.com/florida-medical-marijuana-laws/#:~:text=In%202017%2C%20Florida%20made%20legal,Epilepsy

So what exactly is your point?

The language is readily available in the link that's highlighted, to SB 210, in the article that you posted about the minimum requirements for certain language in a bill that pertains to recovery centers.

It appears as tho you didn't really read the article or the bill.

Make sure it is the right section of the right bill. In the end, it is the regulations that count.

Since you read the entire bill, please explain.

In general, afaik, to obtain medical marijuana in Florida, one gets a  recommendation from a physician, and receives a medical marijuana card. The MM is obtained from a dispensary, not a pharmacy

MM is not obtained via a prescription.

The legislation DeSantis signed "expressly prohibits sober living facilities from allowing residents to possess or use medical marijuana" even if they have a valid MM card.

It has nothing to do with sharing MM; which  has always been illegal.

It has nothing to do with prescriptions. Since marijuana is a Class 1 narcotic, there is no such thing as a prescription.

"Since marijuana remains illegal under federal law, doctors do not write prescriptions for medical marijuana as they would for other types of medicine. Rather, they write recommendations stating that a patient will benefit from medical marijuana as a part of their overall plan of treatment." -- internet

It appears as tho you didn't really read the article or the bill.

It appears you have no idea what you read.

Maybe this will help

Prepared by: Children, Families, and Elder Affairs Committee (CF)

'The bill modifies requirements for licensed substance abuse service providers offering treatment to individuals living in recovery residences. The bill prohibits the following substances from being used on the premises of a provider licensed by the Department of Children and Families (the DCF):

Alcohol;
Marijuana, including marijuana certified by a qualified physician for medical use;
Illegal drugs; and
Prescription drugs when used by persons other than for whom the medication is prescribed."
https://www.flsenate.gov/Committees/BillSummaries/2023/html/3189

Does that help?

Again, there is no such thing as a marijuana prescription.

,"If you’re wondering how to get a cannabis prescription, it’s important to first know that, you can not get a prescription for Medical Cannabis. Since it is still illegal at the federal level, technically doctors can not write a prescription for Medical Cannabis. However, they are able to write a recommendation for Medical Cannabis which you can then take to a Dispensary to get filled. ..."

it can be approved for specific uses if the project "is at least as protective of human health as placement in a stack."
 ...
The state has 25 gypstacks, several of which have had leaks, sinkholes and other issues arise throughout their lifespans.
...

If it is approved, the EPA previously told CBS News it would "open a public comment period, make any applications and our technical analysis of those applications publicly available, and seek input on the proposed decision."

I looked at the screenshot on my computer. It confirms what is in the article. Prohibiting the sharing of prescriptions is a separate issue, nothing to do with MM.

Read the bill summary. Easier to follow on the small screen.

He’s attempting to restrict the use/legalization of marijuana? I think there should be no restrictions on marijuana. Is there more I need to know?

Lol

The law compels the Florida transportation agency to conduct “demonstration projects using phosphogypsum in road construction projects to determine its feasibility as a paving material”.  That seems ok, I guess.

What's reckless is that the law requires the transportation agency to complete a study and make a recommendation to the Governor and legislature by April 1, 2024. That’s less than a year away and not nearly enough time to complete a scientific review of the worker, public health and environmental risks.

There is some good news.  As Ray points out, USEPA regulates phosphogypsum and any request for a specific use of this radioactive waste material in road construction would have to undergo federal technical review, including the opportunity for public comment.

My apologies, the summary does make the distinction between certification and prescribed clearer.
And it appears as tho all Fla recovery residences need to be DCF certified.

Not allowing the use of medical marijuana in a recovery residence for a legitimate use makes no sense.

MN first pointed out the EPA has oversight.

Wait a second, if you are in a Florida substance abuse rehab facility you cannot use medical marijuana?

Can you do it in an Illinois facility that receives federal funding ?

Don't know.  But I don't know about getting upset about an addiction rehab facility not being allowed to let weed be smoked or gummies be eaten on the premises. Could see that causing some issues with the other patients in recovery. Then again, is a law against it really necessary? Unsure if this is a problem requiring legislative intervention or a solution looking for a problem.
