It's likely changing, but it used to be, the black homeowners on the south side, south burbs, in Joliet, in Kankakee, etc. all bought on contract. Their hoods were redlined and they couldn't get a mortgage.

He was talking in general in that part of the interview about progressives shooting themselves in the foot.

As you have noted, he was also talking about the different experiences between the various minority communities in the UK and how they differ via class versus the experience of the majority of Black people here in the US.

Is he not seen as a nearly indispensable figure of the civil rights era? I’d say 2nd only to Martin Luther King. Who didn’t necessarily go out of his way to endear himself to racists and their sympathizers.

So, I guess Pman thinks the solution to crime is to reason with with criminals? I agree to an extent. But first, pull no punches and call them criminals. Prosecute them if they break the law. Then appeal to empathy, change their heart. After that, reason with them.

I don't disagree, but I don't think he sought to "persuade" people by holding a gun near a window and using the phrase "by any means necesssary'.... doesn't mean he was not important to getting people to realize they could and should stand up for themselves.

I agree on Dr. King. I just don't recall him saying anything as direct as "Tempo's Dad, you are a dumb bigot" to get him to change his mind. [I'm sick of using Judge Judy as an example here, so I figured I would use your dad given your earlier comment. I will desist if you like.]

Ugh. We've gone from Spark's trans story and how to appeal to those to change their minds on that issue to this?
