Let's put it this way:
there were two 'stances' involved in this. One of them was "if I see a trans person enter the bathroom after my daughter I'll cut their dick off", and the other was "that's bigotry and fantasizing about violence against oppressed people, that's fucked up".
You did not say word one about the person who said the first thing, and have spent multiple days lecturing the person who said the second.
1. I know what he said and I know what you said. The difference is that I thought Judge Judy was speaking metaphorically and doubt that he really meant it given how outlandish the thought is and that we are on IlliniHQ2 and not 4Chan or 8Chan or whatever.
2. Yes I did. I said that I hoped the story you posted would cause Judge Judy to reconsider his position on the bathroom issue. He, smartly enough, has stayed clear of this discussion. Meanwhile, I have conversed with you about the best way to try and get a Judge Judy (or a Jassn, or, frankly anyone) to try and change their mind on this (or other) topic(s) and to address whatever underlying root cause concern there is on the bathroom issue. I have suggested that typing "[Insert Name Here] is a [bigot or dumb]" is ineffective to that end. In response, I get an argument that a) Dr. King speaking on the need for "white people" to reflect on their biases and bigotry is identical to you typing "[Insert Name Here] is a [bigot or dumb]" and b) that I am defending bigotry. To the contrary, I am suggesting that maybe you use other methods to combat bigotry other than directly typing "[Insert Name Here] is a [bigot or dumb]." Is it going to work every time? Of course not. But you may want to start there.
See George Wallace reference.
