The US military released videos Wednesday of the botched August 29 drone strike in Kabul that killed 10 Afghan civilians, including seven children.

I don’t remember you complaining about Trump’s relaxation of Obama’s restrictive targeting protocol (“near-certainty” standard) in favor of the more permissive “reasonable” certainty standard for civilian causalities, which was initially adopted by the Bush administration.

Apparently Biden has ordered a review of U.S. strikes, while centralizing targeting decisions within the White House.  Sounds like this would be a good time to write a letter to the Biden administration, urging it to adopt stronger targeting protocols to reduce the potential for civilian harm during U.S. counterterrorism strikes.

The Aug 29th strike came from outside of Afghanistan also, but was bad intelligence. Restrictive targeting protocols weren't the issue.
I read the lame 'it shows we don't need a footprint' narrative also.

Al Qaeda is still a vast web of people who wish to do harm to America and our interests across the globe.   Sometimes you have to make harsh decisions as president.  Biden made an informed and necessary decision.   Good on him for doing so.
