I wish Caputo full recovery and hope he gets the treatment he needs.  I also hope he retires from HHS and never again is put in a position of responsibility for protecting public health.

Mich charges two right-wing operatives with felonies over voter suppression scheme

“Two right-wing political operatives were charged Thursday with a series of felonies in connection with a robocall scheme that Mich attorney general said was part of a broad effort intended to intimidate minority voters from casting mail-in ballots.”

“The operatives, Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, made automated calls to around 12,000 MI residents in August, warning them that their personal information from mail-in ballots could be used to execute outstanding arrest warrants or by credit card companies to collect unpaid debts, the authorities said.”

“Many of the residents who were targeted live in Detroit and other cities, said Dana Nessel, Mich’s attorney general.”

“The calls — believed to be among 85,000 made nationally by the operatives — also claimed that mail-in voting information could be used by the government to track people for mandatory vaccination programs, the attorney general’s office said.”

...

Writing for himself and Alito, Thomas said that the court's decision "enables courts and governments to brand religious adherents who believe that marriage is between one man and one woman as bigots, making their religious liberty concerns that much easier to dismiss."

His words came in a case brought by Kim Davis, a former county clerk in Kentucky, who in the aftermath of the same-sex marriage decision refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples and was sued. ...

"Davis may have been one of the first victims of this court's cavalier treatment of religion in its Obergefell decision," Thomas and Alito wrote. ...

the case "provides a stark reminder" of the consequences of the same-sex marriage decision. By choosing to endorse "a novel constitutional right over the religious liberty interests explicitly protected in the First Amendment, and by doing so undemocratically, the court has created a problem that only it can fix," they said. "Until then, Obergefell will continue to have ruinous consequences for religious liberty."

...

Apparently Justices Thomas and Alito believe that religious liberty -- "the free exercise thereof" should include the right to impose one's beliefs on others? Isn't that pretty much a definition of religious bigotry?

By calling Davis a victim, Thomas and Alito are literally saying discrimination is "a religious liberty interest explicitly protected in the First Amendment."

Alito has lived in a papist world all his life. Fish don't know about water.

Is it better or worse that Thomas chose the papist path as an adult?

You see Nick Sandmann express incredulity at the reaction to his behavior, and you realize he's never been in a non-indoctrinated setting, either.

I wonder whether Nick Sandmann knows that his cult actually is a child sex trafficking ring?

Would they teach that in Roman-controlled schools?

Alito is most likely Opus Dei and good chance that Thomas was welcomed to the club.  Judge Amy?  Will she be asked?

If Alito isn't Opus Dei, what's the use of Opus Dei?

I legit feel sorry for Nick Sandmann. He's basically a child actor who will never grow past 17, and it's not like he got any real money for it.
