Actually, didn't she defer to science? These days, people are not shy about forming definitive uniformed opinions well outside their area of expertise. I plead guilty, but do make an effort to admit my take is just that.
This issue of defining biological sex; which is now called gender, came up when Trump tried to pass some law. It turns out, the science is not simple as xx and xy.
There are main biological determinants; chromosomes, gonads, hormones, internal sexualy anatomy, and external sexual anatomy. For most, all 5 align as male or female. But some folks are intersex.
