I give the right wing some  credit in a way. It's hard to credibly support voter suppression; while opposing public health and safety. They rebrand the former as election security and the latter as excessive government intrusion into our private decision making.

FNC'S other big kick is to downplay Jan 6 with whatsboutism, by diverting attention to "defund the police," and blaming Dems for a recent urban crime wave.

Meanwhile, they ridiculed the "nothing burger" tax fraud indictment of the  Trump Org and  CFO Allen Weisselberg.

What voter suppression?  Requiring an ID for something isn't suppression, its something you do all over the developed world to do things.
While we're at it, if there's no fraud in voting (lol) whats the big fucking deal about requiring an ID too on top of it?  Liberals love government bureaucracy and all that shit.

Requiring photo ID then making it more inconvenient to obtain an ID is one example of making it harder to vote.

You are right. There is no evidence of fraud, so there is no reason toughen election security.

When I always feign amazement that I don't have to show an ID when voting, the same dude who is always there checking me in says that he matches signatures from my prior year's sign ins.

I like old people that don’t act like stereotypical boomers.

Can't be many out there then if they don't act stereotypical Boomers.

Here is typical right wing falsehood I hear parroted all the time:

'The Constitution of the United States was created with the purpose of limiting the power of the federal government.'

Actually, the opposite is true. The central government was virtually powerless under the Articles of Confederation. The purpose of the constitution was to increase the powers of the central government. The role of the central government was further expanded by the Civil War Amendments.

The current Republicans spread nonsense because they are selling the notion that government is the problem and a free, unregulated private sector is the solution.

I’ve never heard anyone say that the constitution was created to limit the power of the federal government.

I also don’t know anyone that thinks we should have a totally unregulated private sector.

Of course, I have seen a lot of arguments over how much power the government should have and how regulated the private sector should be.

One of Fox News's major themes is blaming an alleged urban crime wave on dem's  'defund the police' policies.

They specifically pointed to St. Louis  Mayor Tishaura cutting 4 million from the budget for police. Fox implies this caused the crime surge. Meanwhile, Jones reportedly doubled her own security.

Fact check: Jones plan is to actually "reallocate $4 million for police positions that have been vacant for more than a decade to other critical services ..."

This apparently just passed a couple weeks ago?, so it hasn't had any impact yet.

Jones security was  increased to 4 officers.

https://news.stlpublicradio.org/government-politics-issues/2021-04-29/budget-sent-to-st-louis-board-of-aldermen-cuts-police-spending-directs-money-to-social-services.

"The police department has routinely spent more on overtime than was allocated since 2012. But it has managed to stay within its overall budget by spending the salaries meant for the vacant positions on overtime instead."

Sounds like....
We havent filled the positions, so we use what's left in the budget to pay overtime.
Everybody uses budget. Not using budget means a departmental budget cut in the next budget negotiations.
So we're not cutting positions, we're just moving the money spent on overtime somewhere else.
"positions that have been vacant". Lol
