on the practical / functional street level, Americans seem to do fairly well with  multiculturalism. People I talk to saw immigration as a problem, but could not cite any specific examples in their daily lives.

like the woman in a small eci town who says ICE deporting illegals has somehow improved her life. this has nol.tondo reality, plenty to with right wing propaganda.

bigotry and xenophobia are the root causes of right wing nationalism and populism. cracking down on crime, deportations are sweeping thr problem under the rug.
