Some of this Pete Hegseth stuff is just so otherworldly to me.

Taking his (mixed gender) staffers at his non-profit to a strip bar, getting falling down wasted and trying to jump up on the stage, the men classifying the women in the organization as the "party girls" and the "not party girls". All using funds from the non-profit as a slush fund to pay for the trip.

I would think - "yeah, I could never be in some sort of public position because that one time I made a slightly off color joke, ironically, on Illini HQ", but yet we are having a grown man who still acts like a Frat Bro circa 1982 in a corporate setting potentially being the defense secretary?

One 10 minute snippet on the news has him violating like 75% of the content of the dozens of corporate training I have had to take.

I assume that the guy who said 'you print it and I'll deny it' may have been an instance of him being asked to confirm an allegation.

Oh please. You are the resident expert on a lab leak of a genetically manufactured virus from a lab in Wuhan China, something you believe to be definitively true without any real evidence. I suppose it's possible, but it requires a lot of dot connecting and conjecture and relies on the capability of modern science to be even capable of doing such a thing.

Guys been getting falling down drunk in strip bars ever since there were strip bars. People been showing up half baked to work since there has been alcohol. News anchors have been egotistical abusers since there have been news anchors, and anchors at FOX News perfected the art.

Where there's smoke - and an email from the person of interest's mother describing his behavior - there's fire.

Exactly where does this refer to an email from his Mom or to his Mom mentioning the alleged incidents from anonymous sources in her emails ?

Mrs. Hegseth also had a follow-up interview with the NYT.

"Mrs. Hegseth, in a phone interview with The New York Times on Friday, said that she had sent her son an immediate follow-up email at the time apologizing for what she had written. She said she had fired off the original email “in anger, with emotion” at a time when he and his wife were going through a very difficult divorce.

In the interview, she defended her son and disavowed the sentiments she had expressed in the initial email about his character and treatment of women."

"She said that publishing the contents of the first email was “disgusting.”

She also said he is no longer the same man he was back then. Whether these sorts of things matter depends a lot on our bias. I would guess he lacks the temperament to be the Secretary of Defense. I am fairly certain he is not particularly qualified.

Then again, the President Elect is an amoral braggart, a confidence man,  and a failed businessman.
