Tricky situation. How much of a nanny state do you want? Who is controlling the narrative around what exactly constitutes disinformation or the defamation of science/vaccines? Pfizer? The government, which is bought and paid for by the corporate ruling class? What could possibly go wrong? We’ve already seen private big tech platforms act on behalf of candidates and administrations while removing others entirely. I’d just as soon sort it out myself, thank you very much.

You're concern trolling here - the status quo of the disinformation firehouse is what's wrong. The problem being we have a large population - actually called "The Baby Boomers" it's such a large demographic, with a lethal cocktail of being raised to believe what they read because they grew up in an era where published information was generally well vetted combined with old age creating susceptible brains.
Oddly that population is apparently tilting towards Biden while younger voters might be doing the opposite. My theory is that the older population is becoming aware of what they've created, and the younger folk are just so pissed off they are becoming gullible to populism (along with the Boomers destroying the education system)
