I asked what Putin is doing that American presidents don’t do fairly regularly, and Ray responded with a post that went into a bunch of conjecture about Trump’s second term. That’s why it was labeled as a fever dream. It didn’t seem germane to the question.

I’m unsure what posting articles from NATO themselves is going to do for any kind of unbiased or objective truth. I mean, what else can we expect them to present? They actually gonna say they maybe shouldn’t have pushed the boundaries of the agreements and encroached on Russia multiple times over the years?

Seems it used to be the role of Democrats to question war mongering and the fairness of our foreign policy, but that has been flipped in this scenario.

I wish I had the certainty in anything in life as much as Alum has in the news he consumes.

Russia is an authoritarian state run by a former KGB Colonel, and it still has expansionist ideas of its status in Europe and the world.

Except for a brief period in the 90s, they've been an adversary of the US and Europe for over 100 years (since WW1), and their leaders still think we are the enemy. Anyone who refuses to see this is seriously not paying attention.

It seems like reading all sides is a good approach. I see no reason to trust Putin and assume NATO is lying.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around some of the convoluted chatter going on around Ukraine. Those who seemed opposed to helping them more seem to be the same ones that were upset when we withdrew from Afghanistan. The US spent hundreds of billions of dollars trying to protect Afghans from what? Fucking Afghans! Oh, and we used our own troops to do this. Contrast with spending way less to help a people trying to fight off an invasion by our top enemy using only their own soldiers and not one of ours? Let's see, make Putin use up his resources while alienating most of the world and sinking his economy while strengthening NATO? Not a good idea? Wait, isn't that how we won the Cold War?

I'm not sure that the issue is wnen we withdrew from Afghanistan but rather how.
The Biden administration said that before Feb 2022 that NATO talks were off the table.
Zelensky had peace proposals to offer before Feb 2022 that were not considered.
Obama Department documents indicate that the $1 billion to Ukraine should go forward.
Biden, as VP, apparently used that US taxpayer $1 billion to demand the ouster of the prosecutor investigating Burisma.
Ukraine has been considered to be one of the more corrupt nations on earth.
There is no accountability for funds and munitions sent to Ukraine.
Ukraine and our southern border are 2 separate issues, 1 being domestic and the other being foreign. The House Republicans want those funding issues to be discussed separately.
The House passed HR2 last summer and the Senate would not offer amendments to make it bipartisan. A border bill could have opened talks for a separate Ukraine bill.
The Senate wants an omnibus bill. Why does it have to be an omnibus bill ?

Russia's economy has apparently been doing well.
