The false equivalency of CNN or MSNBC to Faux & the new, crazier entrants is a sure sign that the equivocator is intellectually dishonest, just plain stupid or batshit insane.

Serious news organizations have fact-checkers and editors. Faux News just fired its Decision Desk staff for being too facty.

The people at OAN don't pretend to care about facts. The NewsMax people do pretend, but not too strenuously.

The GOP has full-blown Q disease and is not pretending otherwise.

Trump was a product of Reform Party and Tea Party; which were revivals of the JBS and other, older xenophobic movements.
He didn’t create Trump’s political positions.

He did create the lack of political decorum and “fuck your feelings” attitude that Trump capitalized on.

Rush showed us that it was politically acceptable to make fun of people who were already disadvantaged in society to begin with. Trump took that scheme and designed an entire offense out of it.

I certainly liked Thomas Sowell of the 1990s. 

I haven't read him in ages. I have a vague feeling that he lost some marbles along the way. But as you know, that happens with olds.

I had to look Thomas Sowell up as the name rang only a quiet bell. Watched a couple old YouTube videos. May watch more as I’m unfortunately wide awake.

I used to read his column, and I read one of his books too. He didn’t really lose his marbles as much as he just ran out of material and stopped being insightful or relevant any more. One can only talk about NYC rent control or SF land use policy so many times.

Archie was basically a warm, lovable bigot and the unintended protagonist; while the meathead son-in-law came across as a cold, arrogant, ungrateful mooch.

While I suspect JR was intended to be a villain, he was in effect an antihero, who made being a predatory hedonist cool. The 'good brother' was percieved as soft / waffling / hand wringing.

I don't really blame them. That was our culture. We admired tough winners like Leo Durocher, Vince Lombardi, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and Bob Knight
