The death of Charlie Kirk will have little net effect on the direction of US politics. To ascribe a motivator that the killer was trying to “accomplish” something via this murder is to pretend he was sane - to think “ok, if I were a liberal or a Fuentes supporter, it would make sense for me to do this”

The question is - given we know there are nutcases out there, what do we do about it? Restrict guns? Invest money in mental health care? Make a more equitable society where fewer people are desperate and end up losing their marbles? Or do we just do nothing?
