Or go to trade school to learn a trade.
I had to think about this one for a bit.
If the answer - per Mn, and I agree - is that a lot of our kids should go to trade school and learn a trade, then why the fuck do we need a massive tariff war to bring mind numbing iPhone manufacturing jobs to the US? We are at 4% unemployment, and while I like to fix my own shit, I own 3 buildings, just finished one remodel and am starting another, and got a new furnace and A/C in the 3rd. I needed help. Skilled help. I can confirm that it's super hard to get good contractors, carpenters, plumbers, electrical guys.
Instead we're tanking the economy so eventually we just train people to screw in screws on phones instead of installing drywall. Installing drywall can never be outsourced. As far as I'm concerned, construction *IS* manufacturing. Why is Trump trying to "Make America Great Again" by trying to steal the shittiest manufacturing jobs at the expense of our trade labor force?
And the dumbest shit is the tariffs are making remodels more expensive from a *parts* standpoint, impacting the affordability of the entire project, so people defer projects taking work away from construction workers - before even getting into dock workers and truck drivers.
The best model is the high value add jobs - and that money flows into construction etc... and let the Chinese optimize making barbie dolls, investing their human capital into dead ends while we flourish.
