I’m not sure what you’re even trying to say here? Your company is wildly profitable and can afford crème de la l crème coverage so everyone in the country should have that? The per capita cost of that coverage has to be insane, and would never, ever scale as government run universal healthcare funded by taxpayers. Sounds like the answer to healthcare is Nvidia paying for it for everyone else. I know guys who work in trades, their insurance is fine and they live very well. Those companies compete for workers just like companies in Silicon Valley.

People should not be rationing dental care. Your teeth are a long term investment. You don't want to scale dental care, but then 30 years down the line we have Medicare paying for major surgery due to abcesses that could be easily preventable with reasonable routine cleanings. Just fucking stupid. You don't need AI to be able to figure that out. You should know, living in a state where the 15 teeth per capita.

Nothing like an incentive to go to school to get an education and a decent job, is there?

This is a CHRISTIAN nation!

As I noted before, my company matches up to 10,000 per year of employee charitable contributions, and our annual holiday "party" is a Habitat for Humanity work project. I get an email every month to take some "woke quiz" and if I do it, the company will donate 25 bucks to the charity of my choice.

No.

someone in the middle class probably can figure out how to at least get regular dental visits. The poor just let their teeth go to shit, and aren't even thinking "I need to go to the dentist every 6 months". Then when their teeth go to pot, that's a highway to death. I'm not talking "bad teeth", i mean pulled teeth because they get abcesses and prosthetic dentistry is VERY expensive and not covered by any insurance unless you got some serious serious insurance. So they have no teeth, which impacts diet, causes infections, etc...

Someone in the middle class might put off some GP stuff unless it's pretty obviously bad, but that might still outstrip just going to the ER when you're basically dead. Yes, there are probably examples of someone who's poor who has a tummy ache and just says "ok, lets go to the ER" and the hospital chews up a $1000 bill for "you have the stomach flu, take some advil and wait it out like everyone else does" (which is $1000 because of all the weird graft in the system, and maybe to get people to go to a GP instead of the ER, but poor people don't have a GP, and so on). That's a symptom of our system being so fubar.

One thing I have to make me think it gets better. When AI replaces a lot of white collar jobs, maybe more people go into medicine and drive the costs down just by dint of supply of doctors and nurses.

The middle class has zero problems getting dental care. A lot (not all) of poor people are poor because they make bad decisions, and that includes their health. We could provide free dental for them all and plenty still wouldn’t go for a variety of reasons. So to say it’s simply an access problem is dubious, at best.

A good friend’s mom had a stroke a few years ago, didn’t have a pot to piss in. She hasn’t paid anything out of pocket for years of rehab and other health issues, including dental and vision. She’s in an  nice assisted living complex downstate and they give her full care in exchange for her modest at best SS check. According to you and Tempo she should be on the street or dead given how terrible our system is.

And your execs are still able to afford cars with doors that move up and down! Win/win!

That sounds like her countable income and  assets are low enough for her to be dual eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. Very high medical expenses can help too.

Basically,

Medicaid covers the Medicare premiums, copays and  deductibles.

Between Medicare and Medicaid, basic dental and vision gets covered.

Free part d, extra help from SS, and Medicaid can zero out scripts.

Or people with dual.eligility and virtually zero assets can get Medicare Part C in some areas with all the components in one plus a flex card to buy cheese.

The reimbursements are not attractive, so finding care givers can be a challenge..

Poor people with lower medical expenses,  marginally higher income, or significant assets might be ineligible for Medicaid or subject to a Medicaid "spend down"

Or go to trade school to learn a trade.

I had to think about this one for a bit.

If the answer - per Mn, and I agree - is that a lot of our kids should go to trade school and learn a trade, then why the fuck do we need a massive tariff war to bring mind numbing iPhone manufacturing jobs to the US? We are at 4% unemployment, and while I like to fix my own shit, I own 3 buildings, just finished one remodel and am starting another, and got a new furnace and A/C in the 3rd. I needed help. Skilled help. I can confirm that it's super hard to get good contractors, carpenters, plumbers, electrical guys.

Instead we're tanking the economy so eventually we just train people to screw in screws on phones instead of installing drywall. Installing drywall can never be outsourced. As far as I'm concerned, construction *IS* manufacturing. Why is Trump trying to "Make America Great Again" by trying to steal the shittiest manufacturing jobs at the expense of our trade labor force?

And the dumbest shit is the tariffs are making remodels more expensive from a *parts* standpoint, impacting the affordability of the entire project, so people defer projects taking work away from construction workers - before even getting into dock workers and truck drivers.

The best model is the high value add jobs - and that money flows into construction etc... and let the Chinese optimize making barbie dolls, investing their human capital into dead ends while we flourish.
