Note that woke in the current popular sense is derived from the verb; which means to be awake. In a broad sense it implies to pay attention to what's going on, to be aware.

In buddhism, the word usually translated as enlightenment literally means awakening Buddha means awake or woke one --  person who sees things as they are.

Not all Republicans buy into the alt right, but the alt right considers it their party.

Dems might censor pronouns, but Republicans will censor books.

In your rush to stereotype and pigeon hole anything right of Mother Jones into convenient boxes, you have come to the mistaken conclusion that “Republicans are selling that it’s wrong to be awake.”

The term “awake” isn’t even in Republican messaging. You’ve adopted that specifically to try and mischaracterize the right’s culture war the the “Woke” which is actually an ironic usage of the term far left radicals literally gave themselves. And which doesn’t have a whole lot to do with actual enlightenment.
