You ever watch PAC ball games? No one is there, even for pretty big games. I’d say fan/cultural apathy ranks pretty high on the list.

1. Why does the Pac TV deal suck despite dominating media markets 2, 6, 11, and 12? How did the B1G even survive pre-Rutgers and Maryland?
2. Have you ever actually seen apparel sales numbers?

1. All West Coast 6 and 12 don't come close to making up for East Coast footprint. The B1G is thriving because it has an East Coast footprint for the BTN now. This is not rocket surgery.

2. I've been to 2 Rose Bowls and seen enough of them, been out to CA enough the past 40 years to see enough of them, and have plenty of family members who are Walmart Trojans

What you got?

Let me know if you see UCLA or USC on this list. The west coast teams are notorious in apparel sales for not selling as well as midwestn, southern, and east coast teams. Applies in the pros as well.

In terms of market, the B1G was in better financial shape before adding Rutgers or Maryland, and if it's all about TV markets, the ACC's failure to work while controlling the entire Boston-DC corridor, Atlanta, and Florida would need explaining.

My point isn't that they're irrelevant, it's that the conference is grossly overvaluing the LA college brands and TV pull. Imo, the whole thing is taking easy money now and destroying long-term value that took decades to build.

2013-2014 sales numbers, but ok.

This conference shuffle is essentially a proxy war between ESPN and Fox.  It's possible that the remnants of the Big 12 and PAC combine and go for the highest bidder.  It'd be a helluva hoops group!

Then perhaps Illinois should be in the Pac 12. You know, birds of a feather. At least for football.

Because FOX News told me so…

"the University of California Regents realized they might have some say in what conference UCLA competes in, or at least some say over how many 9 a.m. Pacific time kickoffs they can stand."

'might'
