Imagine if the FBI, in Oct 2020, had offered $1 million to anyone who could corroborate Hunter's laptop. The laptop that the FBI knew at the time was legit.

This didn't happen because the NRA didn't want the laptop to come out. They don't want to defend Hunter's right to buy a gun

The Sun-Times has taken the paywall off of their digital version.
I searched for Danchenko, nada.
I searched for Durham, and did get one hit for Oct.

Fortunately, the fishwrap had extensive coverage ....

That's one big pumpkin.

Alexander Downer has said that all he told the Australian government was that Papadopoulos said that the Russians 'might' release damaging information on Clinton, and that there was no mention of collusion.
On this, the FBI didn't open a threat assessment, a preliminary investigation or obtain a FISA warrant on Papadopoulos. They went to a full investigation.

Durham showed split screens of the dossier and the Carter Page FISA application, which showed the same phrases.
The FBI knew pre 2016 election that Steele couldn't corroborate his dossier, even with an offer of $1 million U.S. taxpayer dollars, and they knew in Jan 2017 that Danchenko's information was worthless.
They still went forward with the FISA and 3 renewals on Carter Page, including using a lie by an FBI lawyer regarding Page's previous status as a Confidential Human Source.

Imagine if the FBI, in Oct 2020, had offered $1 million to anyone who could corroborate Hunter's laptop. The laptop that the FBI knew at the time was legit.

You mean that he told the Australians that the Soviets were offering to collude with the Trump campaign (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-12-10/alexander-downer-report-may-surface-in-trump-impeachment/11782834) and you don't understand why a full investigation was opened?

Quote
Referred to in the report only as a "friendly foreign government official", Mr Downer said that Papadopoulos "suggested the Trump team had received some kind of suggestion from Russia that it could assist this process with the anonymous release of information during the campaign that would be damaging to Mrs Clinton (and President Obama)."

Deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe characterised Mr Downer's statement as a "tipping point" in the July 2016 decision to open an investigation into Russia's attempts to interfere with the 2016 election.

"Because not only was there information that Russia was targeting US political institutions," the report states.

"Now the FBI had received an allegation from a trusted partner that there had been some sort of contact between the Russians and the Trump campaign."

April 2016, Mifsud tells Papadopoulos about the "dirt".
So Mifsud knows about Guccifer and Guccifer 2, or whatever they were.
From Horowitz, this may have very well been public information. If it is, big deal.
"It was unclear whether he or the
Russians were referring to material acquired publicly of [sic] through
other means."
It probably doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that a country that has been attempting to interfere in our elections might do it again if they have "dirt".
And Papadopoulos is no rocket scientist.

July 22 ? Wikileaks starts releasing emails.
On July 24 ? Mook goes on tv to say the Russians "hacked" the DNC.
We'll skip the Crowdstrike CEO saying they had no evidence that information was exfiltrated for now.
On July 26,  Downer comes into play with the Papadopoulos told him that Mifsud told him story.
July 28, it gets to the FBI.

From the mentioned Horowitz report ..
"According to The Special
Counsel's Report, Mifsud only showed interest in Papadopoulos after learning of Papadopoulos's role in
the campaign, and told Papadopoulos about the Russians possessing "dirt" on then candidate Clinton
in late April 2016"

From Downer ...

Well it has taken us over 5 years to find out that the FBI offered a foreign spy $1 million to pretty please corroborate your story, and used a song and dance they knew was garbage from someone previously suspected of being a Russian spy in order to bring down 2 people previously trusted by the CIA and the FBI enough to be confidential sources, Carter Page and Sergei Millian, in an effort to undermine a sitting President.

How was Steele going to corroborate his hearsay dossier? It is all hearsay built on more hearsay. He would have to tell them to talk to this guy, that guy, etc.

The FBI investigation started before the election. Carter Page made his own bed by being evasive - like everyone else in the Trump Campaign - (as the (Republican) Senate Intelligence Committee report held) and Dossier was right about Page's meetings with high level Soviets, which, given his petroleum interests in Russia, is probably understandable. What is less understandable is why he would be evasive about it....unless, he was collaborating on the Campaign's behalf.

Wasn't Millian a purported source for your guy Danchenko? Though he has denied it and federal judge was skeptical of his denials.

Steele was also a trusted source, which is how he got the gig in the first place, right?

Trump, et al., obstructed the investigation for a reason. Trump is still acting like he is in Putin's pocket. They made their own beds.

You mean to tell me the Federal Bureau of Investigation couldn't go talk to this guy, or that guy ?

Yes, Page met with Russians. That's what some CIA informants do. Page helped put some behind bars. Clinesmith altered an email to make the email state that Page was not a CIA source.

Durham will show that there are no records of phone calls between Danchenko and 'a guy he thought was Milian'.

I'm not sure about Steele, and don't care if he was trusted. I think he may have been involved in an international soccer case, but working for British Intelligence.
He was being paid thru Clinton channels to do 'opposition research' and made up trash.

How does someone obstruct an investigation that has an agenda and is constructed with falsehoods ?

I doubt any Soviets would cooperate.

If it is built on falsehoods, there is nothing to hide. Yet that is what President Only the Guilty and Mobsters Plead the 5th did. Just like in his deposition. Guy is guilty.

Read the report. It laid out the case for obstruction. If Merrick Garland wasn't such a spineless weasel (as we are seeing with the Jan 6th Insurrection), he would have charged Trump, and basically anyone who had not been pardoned by Trump, with obstruction of justice.

Apparently the Campaign's meeting in Trump Tower about "adoptions" with Soviet agents is completely irrelevant. You guys are saps.

You’re so totally invested into this Russian collusion thing you’ll never change your tune. Despite the fact it’s all manufactured bullshit.
