'I went to go pick up my co-workers in Texas. They must have thought it was a 1 day job and a quick trip back to Texas because they didn't bring anything with them.'
She also filed 2 requests for protective orders but, when asked, doesn't seem to want to talk about those.

For all we know, the luggage was shipped separately.

I am not saying this is in any way related. We have gone over how agriculture, construction, restaurants, hotels, etc hire undocumented individuals. I have seen buses drop them off with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Its been going on for decades. I don't see it as much the last few years. Automation reduced the need?

Anyway, I wouldn't say the bus drivers were engaged in human trafficking. Would you?

Once you start saying "oops, mistake" instead of worrying about Due Process, anyone can get fucked over.

Riley Gaines husband is getting shipped out of the country, and MAGA is all aghast. Oh - but Riley - "it's a mistake! You'll be OK!"

As screwed up as this country is right now, I think a majority of the country has some understanding of due process and expects it to be adhered to.  Even some of the non-cult right are grasping this.  People intuitively fear and mistrust arbitrary power.

If you’re trying to convince me that we need to follow “due process” for everyone that came in the last 4+ years, it’s a waste of your time. I have zero qualms with expediting the removal of criminals who entered our country illegally rather than having the immigration system take years and years to decide what should be done with them. I trust that there is enough accountability in the system to undo any mistakes that will take place in the process. This dude that got held for a day then released just isn’t the gotcha moment you think it is.

Maybe you should run for Congress with a platform of changing the immigration laws. Given where we are, seems like it should be easy for them to do right now instead of whatever this is that appears to keep running afoul of the current laws.

Yeah let’s take years and years to address the issue that was a direct result of the asinine open border policy of the last 4 years. Do whatever it takes to get rid of the gang members and criminals. The rest can have due process. Says a lot that of all the thugs we have shipped out of here, these are the best (only?) two cases the bleeding hearts have.

Yes, the bleeding heart Supreme Court, the bleeding heart judge that was Kavanaugh's old roommate, and even the bleeding heart 5th Circuit judge appointed by W all appear just a little concerned that the administration is refusing to follow the nation's laws....

AKA there is accountability and the system is working as it should.

That remains to be seen.

I think this admin knew they had a limited amount of time to do the whole shock/awe, good cop/bad cop thing. But I’m not sure even they could have known how quickly they could get the left to embrace the SCOTUS. Remarkable, really.

I think this is what happened this weekend .......
The Venezuelan Civil Liberties Union went to Boasberg who told them he can't do what he did before because SCOTUS slapped him.
The Venezuelan Civil Liberties Union went to the judges in Texas where the TdA  people are getting housing and food and was told to come back Monday, it's Easter weekend.
So the Venezuelan Civil Liberties Union went to SCOTUS and told the judges that they had gotten nowhere in other jurisdictions in the past couple of hours and the plane's turbines are warming up, so SCOTUS did the opposite of what they had decided previously.

Then ...

And now ...

Edit: upon further review it appears the VCLU waited 42 minutes.  ;D

"Yet applicants gave the district court a mere 42 minutes’ notice before divesting it of jurisdiction by filing a notice of appeal claiming constructive denial of relief."

Didn't the court require they provide notice before shipping these people off so they could contest it? Sounded like they were not giving them enough notice to do that, ergo SCOTUS got off its collective ass. Except Alito and Judge Conflict of Interest.

More like pleasantly surprised they aren't sniffing Trump"s farts.

SCOTUS required notice. They were given notice as SCOTUS required.
They weren't going to deport any individuals who had habeas petitions and let the courts know that. They followed the directive.
The argument then became that the putative class, a designation SCOTUS shut down in March, was not given 'sufficient' time to petition for habeas so SCOTUS came back with the putative class, a class that had no validity a month ago, now should be protected by a TRO.

The VCLU leapfrogged the lower courts to go to SCOTUS and apparently has threatened to file suit in all 94 federal districts.

This case was filed on April 16. There's no law of the case from March unless you have a time machine.

I just await Mn and Custard telling us why it was a *good* thing that Pete Hegseth was looping his wife and lawyer in on the Yemen strikes, using a non Governmental phone.
