Crop prices almost always track to crude oil prices. Any halfway decent grain marketer took advantage of the multi-year high the last couple of weeks to sell inventory and forward market grain for fall delivery above the cost of production for the first time in a good while.
While most of us were benefiting from really low gas and egg prices the last few months, farmers were struggling. But now we are paying more for gas, but eggs are still cheap, and farmers are benefiting from improved crop prices.
