What did Mark Smith ever do to deserve the criticism and derision he’s gotten from Illini fans besides not be as good at basketball as we’d hoped and then trying to find a situation that suits him better?

By all accounts (minus the speculation of middle aged white men), he’s conducted himself with class and dignity.

What I can just about guarantee you (if your theoretical were true) is that I wouldn’t be bad mouthing or calling him a “pussy.” I’d say, “it’s a shame it didn’t work out,” and then wish him good luck at his next venture, as long as he didn’t leave the program because of Jamar Smith or Kendrick Nunn reasons. The only thing Mark Smith is guilty of is not being a dynamic basketball player.
