Howard needs a minimum season long suspension from Michigan; or to be fired. Inexcusable for a coach. And apparently over a timeout? Grow the fuck up.

If either of these schools are smart (ha!), they'd dole out their own punishment swiftly and severely to all involved.  Waiting for the conference to do your dirty work is chickenshit and bad PR.

Now, some are blaming Gard and Krabbenhoft. They are saying Gard instigated the whole thing by trying to shake Howard's hand. Then Krabbenhoft was allegedly talking smack to Michigan players. I am reminded of the idiots who said the security video showed Michael Brown paid for the cigars.

There is also a big debate over punch versus slap.

Gard put his left hand on Howard's right arm. That is a conciliatory gesture. Krabbenhoft probably should have stayed out of it, but he didn't hit anyone. Not sure who on Wisconsin deserves punishment.     

We don't know what Krabbenhoft said, but there is no excuse for slapping or hitting.

Howard didn't even give anything close that can be constituted as an apology in his presser. He pinned the blame on Gard, then tried to play the self-defense card with "I needed to protect myself" and rambled on more about the team and family having each other's back as if he's Vin Diesel in a Fast and Furious movie.

Congratulations on setting a great example for the kids you're coaching too. You got them involved and now they themselves face disciplinary action due to your petulance. Way to be a leader of men, Juwan.

On one of the videos it looked like Williams, #5 for Michigan, was smiling as this fracas was ending. Really a situation to smile about?

Howard whined about Gard calling a TO with 15 seconds left, thinking it unsportsmanlike. What about him with a full court press with a minute to play and down 16 or 18 points? And then to tell his team to intentionally foul after Gard calls a TO? He wouldn't issue an apology in the presser. He makes it sound like Gard was trying to embarrass him. He's a bad joke. Hope the league and UM come down on him.
Like you said, real classy and setting an example to his players and even his son, who is on the team.
Like another poster said, him being suspended when the Illini play them means Phil Martelli is the coach, probably better for UM.
