I need some waterproof boots

No water resistant bullshit. I want something really good for the fall rains and the winter snow. Sick of boots that claim to be waterproof and then sucking at it. Any thoughts?

Good leather and sno-seal works for me, or are you going to be standing in puddles.
Pac boots are a good way to hit the ground hard if you slip on ice.

I’d look for something with Gore Tex if you want maintenance free boots. Danner makes really good winter boots. Not cheap though.

Have a shepsky. She loved the cold weather last year. I need to prep for standing outside for an hour 2x a day at the dog parks in the middle of February.

I have a couple of Palladium and a couple of Timberland, and heartily recommend either.

You can find them in dumpsters around Campustown, in Champaign. They're free!

I'd go with Keen or Merrell.  Both have Gortex plus many different styles and are good on ice.

Looks like I will have to go to REI in Oak Brook. I have a gift card from them as I returned a package to them that was mistakenly delivered to my address for someone who did not live remotely close to me. Didn't expect that from them for just being a good egg.

Yeah Danner charging $400 for boots. Wow.

Insulated boots are what I would look for also.

Ended up going to REI last weekend. "Inventory limited" signs all over the place.

Could not get Merrel in my size. Ended up with insulated Columbia boots as they were the only 1 of the 3 waterproof winter boots that fit.. "Bobby" warned that they may be too warm. Not sure that is possible.
