The actual answer should address when you did defend all your heros like Shaka. They could do no wrong, things overlooked, awards were cited, and all their accomplishments were propped up.

Seriously though, I can’t even recall the last time I spoke about Shaka glowingly. It’s been years. He was thoroughly mediocre at Texas. He may well be a thoroughly mediocre high major coach. Maybe Bruce Weber+ Is his ceiling.

The lengths to which you guys are willing to go to perpetuate memes is absurd. I once said something along the lines of “if we strike out on our first 3-4 options, I’d consider Lorenzo Romar.” Years later, imbeciles here still paint it as me pining over Romar. It’s ridiculous. Grow up.

I’m not aware of any awards Shaka has won, and I’m fairly certain I’ve never cited them. And in the minuscule chance I ever did (I didn’t), it would have been 5 years ago. I literally just said Shaka has been, and may afterall be just be a mediocre coach.

Again, it wasn’t a direct comparison to Joe Paterno. I was pointing out that winning awards doesn’t necessarily mean anything. If there’s one thing we’ve learned the last 20 years, it’s that most of our heroes had/have major flaws.

I actually did. I wanted to see for myself what you were talking about. On the smallest technicality, you’re correct. I had what amounted to a throw away line about how I’d still rather have Smart than Underwood. Meanwhile, I started the thread to praise Underwood, and ADMIT he was doing much better than I thought he would.

That thread went for 47 pages. As far as I can tell, it was the only time I mentioned Shaka. You got me man, I was all over his nuts in that thread.
