I’ve watched this like 6 times now and it’s less offensive each time I watch it.
He starts off talking about the importance of a talented roster. He transitions to talking about the holes in the roster that became apparent after he invited all the super seniors back and had some time under his belt with them.
He then harps on the lack of experience and personnel in key areas that they need to overcome in order to succeed in what is very obviously a multi-year rebuild.
He goes on to talk about needing bigger bodies upfront for his style of play compared to what the previous staff was recruiting for their SOP. (Whatever that may have been)
The piece about the O Line can be construed as throwing the current starting O Line under the bus, but when you watch it again he’s clearly talking about something entirely different.
We all know Tempo blames everything on the staff and the guys that aren’t playing are going to be heroes, but the cupboard is awfully bare. And if we think we’re bad this year just wait until next year, unless they make hay in the Juco and transfer market.
I was a little put off by it at first but it was just a very frank evaluation of the current roster construction. And Bielema setting the expectation that they have recognized those shortcomings and intend to shore them up as best they can.
Probably could have worded it a little differently for the more sensitive among the fan base.
