I bet most fans cannot even name the conference they were in.

Yeah- he was in way over his head as far as X's and O's and always has been. Hopefully he will expand his skills along the way.

As far as him leaving- I honestly think it would make little difference. He is pretty much just a guy.
They sky isn't falling, but we are just another P5 team trying to claw our way out of the barrel.
Hopefully they do not fall back down after next year which will be OK.
They better find a PG, a 4, and a post somewhere for '22.

Agree with all of this. At SFA, he just made sure the right people got the right bags so that he could 'out-talent' a shit league. Ok.

At OSU, he tried to do the same thing in a better league. Didn't work as well. Almost got caught. Had an assistant take the fall. Ok.

At Illinois, he's had exactly one good season with two likely NBA players who stayed longer than they should have. Got his ass handed to him by a better coached team.

Next year is looking bleak. And he lost his two bag-droppers.

Better balance,toughness mentally, and will to win. Feliz was a fcking monster. Nobody fcked the dog in front of him.

I think we will be decent next year. Maybe a 7-10 seed that could surprise if they have a hot weekend.
Better shooting overall, better balance, and a legit PG running the show full time.

The following season will be a tough one if Curbelo moves on.
No lead guard.

That’s definitely putting an interesting spin on an objectively historic season for this program. The last two coaches who built 1 seed/B1G champion caliber teams at Illinois are hall of famers.

FFS. He does not even belong in the same sentence as Self, Henson, or Kruger and never will.
Even Weber was and is probably a better coach and his record is way better if you are attempting to be objective.
Our historic season will forever be known by an epic collapse via coaching choke job.

Hulka is just a guy so far. Nothing special by any measure. Here is a little factoid- His NCAA record is actually weaker than Groce’s if you want to be objective. I think the Hall of Fame is safe.
