Unless he’s looking to bail, would be a weird time for him to leave UM. Apparently he likes being in Ann Arbor. Won’t say it can’t happen, but I’d be a little surprised if this happens.
Perfect time for him to leave because he can't go any higher than this year. He'll never beat Ohio State consistently. He'll never beat SEC teams in the playoff consistently.
Also being head coach of the Chicago Bears of the NFL is a more prestigious job than Michigan and one could argue easier since recruiting isn't involved.
He is a former starting Chicago Bears QB.
I think Jim Harbaugh wants the challenge of winning a Super Bowl. He got the 49ers to the Super Bowl and lost. I think he will want that challenge again in the NFL, and the Bears is one of the best jobs in all of football. It's the Chicago Bears, an iconic franchise. He'll never win a national title at Michigan, and this is his one year of beating Ohio State. It probably won't ever happen again bc Ohio State recruits at a different level.
It's very similar to when he was at Stanford battling USC. Stanford was never going to consistently beat USC. Ever. So he jumped to the 49ers when that job opened. Now you can argue Michigan/Ohio State is closer than Stanford/USC, but really it hasn't been competitive at all when Harbaugh's been there till this year. I don't think he's going to think he built something suddenly. He's just having 1 great year where everything falls in place and Ohio State is a little more down than they usually are.
