You are one of the hard-right, right-leaning overly self-assured, mediocre, white men who aren’t particularly welcoming to the opinions of minority populations that trolls Tempo. But it wouldn't surprise me if you actually were not one of the hard-right, right-leaning overly self-assured, mediocre, white men who aren’t particularly welcoming to the opinions of minority populations that trolls Tempo. On second thought, it actually would surprise me.
Mr. Jobu’s ruminations are so rife with ignorance, erroneous information, and poorly conceived notions of cronyism that I hardly know where to begin. Even disregarding obvious errors like his insistence that matters of racial justice should enter a period of benign neglect, the fallacies of his claims are glaring to those of us who have educated ourselves about the implications of solipsism. First off, it is critical that we protect the interests of the general public against the greed and unreason of lackluster, obdurate evildoers. This needs to be done, not tomorrow, not in a week, not in a month, and not in a year. It needs to be done immediately, especially when one considers that we must go placidly amid the noise and haste. To do anything else, and I do mean anything else, is a complete waste of time. You may be shocked to hear this, but Jobu used to maintain that his activities are on the up-and-up. However, after my last letter so eloquently put a lie to that, Jobu and his patsies have busily if rather quietly gone to work on their palinodes—amending here, canceling there, and generally trying to conceal the fact that the reason that so many well-meaning people fall for Jobu’s prudish, tone-deaf ideals is that Jobu has taken the trouble to articulate plausible, though deeply flawed, answers to the really broad questions of human existence. What is the purpose of life? What is truth? What is good or evil? Jobu readily provides answers to such deep questions in terms of convenient falsehoods such as that criminals are merely social rebels. That lie is a transparent and strained effort to keep us from noticing that just as night follows day, he will get as many people as possible to line up behind the geek-tent barkers at the latest and greatest carnival of ageism in the blink of an eye. What I had wanted for this letter was to write an analysis of Mr. Jobu’s conjectures—not an exhortation or a shrill denunciation but an analysis. I hope I have succeeded at that.
