And if you told your boss (yes I know you’re your own boss, but think along with me here) I can’t do this today, I’m having some mental health issues - and he replied that he doesn’t believe you and you’re soft, a quitter - that’s a positive thing?
I never called someone “soft” or a “quitter”
There are millions of people far less accomplished and dare I say *privileged* than Simone Biles who don’t get to play that card. Many of those same folks have probably been traumatized or abused even worse than she has and are making 5-10% of the money.
Now if we want to say that McDonald’s employees should get to take mental health days because they say they “can’t do this” after fucking up a sandwich or filling someone’s order incorrectly, that’s an entirely different conversation.
I think people regardless of their position in society or their job or celebrity/athlete status should have their mental health valued.
I also think playing the mental health card after fucking up is kind of a bad look whether that’s what’s going on or not.
It’s not an either/or situation.
