I have absolutely no material connection to Thai Buddhism. I have read about it. Some of the practices do have therapeutic value. 

That said, Buddhists aren't free of corruption. They are as human as everyone else..

Point. However American Buddhists tend to be tolerant of gays. South Asian Buddhists are not. It is considered sexual misconduct.

Rabbi Samuel Hiller (New York): Sentenced to up to three years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree grand larceny for stealing $5 million intended for special needs preschool students

Rabbi Osher Eisemann (New Jersey): Indicted and accused of misappropriating over $630,000 in public tuition and foundation funds meant for the School for Children

I remember Rusty Limpboy made a big deal out of Chinese monks and nuns donating to the Gore campaign. Or was it Clinton? Rus claimed they took vows of poverty..

Actually, Theravada monks and nuns are celibate and do not own property. Mahayana clergy, like the Chinese, can marry, have private bank accounts, and so on.

When I lived in the city I met a barely 21 year old black kid sitting at a bar. Houndstooth, maybe. He had quite the stories at such a young age. He was a chef working at True. Had already gone to culinary school in Paris; and told me he once spent a month in jail in Thailand for getting busted with weed. I thought that was at the same time terrible, and the most badass thing I’d ever heard.

We’re still FB friends, I think he’s (still) in NYC now and doing pretty well as a chef.
