It's recently dawned on me that commercials for individual gasoline brands have all but disappeared except some ETOH pimping on BTN.  One might conclude that they are not competing with each other anymore.  Why should they with such a powerful monopoly?  There's plenty of $$$ to go around.  Industry messages about responsible development seem to be all we get.  Folks rail against Big Pharma and rightly so, but the oil lobby is still king and getting stronger with this Iran cluster.  Just sayin'

People view gas as a commodity these days and the gas stations make more on the stuff they sell inside the store than they do on the fuel. The fuel just gets people to stop. I see lots of ads for gas stations/convenience stores, and they’re focused on the c store part.

I do like to use Top Tier fuel in my vehicles when I can and there is no better value for that than The Costco. Phillips, Shell, Marathon, etc also are Top Tier.

And this is why my 2nd largest holding in the market is Costco.

I don't think it's Trump hatching the plan, but the 3D chess really is about casting aspersions on solar/wind/EVs, disrupting adoption of that technology, then starting a war and fucking over all the people with gasoline cars. We invested like 20k into the solar panels, another 10k into battery, and now we neither pay power bills or buy gasoline. Had the US gone all in, it would have probably cost us half, and we wouldn't need to blockade the Strait because nobody would want their oil.

Shit - Bessent was on TV talking about the need to give money to the UAE to help rebuild from the war. Nah, we can't aid Ukraine, let's just give some money to one of the richest countries in the world - because they laundered a bunch of money into the Trumps via the crypto scam. UAE send money to Trump, Trump sends taxpayer money to UAE. Make sense.

I'd say Musk got played given Tesla and Solar City, but somehow their stock keeps being magic beans.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Guess Hunter Biden should have been on the UAE payroll like the Trump family is.

They’re  actively building solar and wind as fast as they can all over the country. Just drove through hundreds of acres of solar panel farms that were wrecked by tornadoes in northern Indiana the other day. Used to be highly productive farm ground.

Anyways, you got government subsidies to offset your costs on the panels and EVs and batteries. They’ll all need to be replaced at some point, at great expense. Unless the government bails you out again.

Oil still makes the world go round, and we in the US receive very little oil that comes through the strait. It’s about strangling Iran’s primary source of income. I filled up with gas today, both vehicles. It was $3.84. Big fucking deal.

The President of the United States saying that Windmills are ugly and cause cancer and kill birds... we would be building faster if he wasn't getting in the way. That highly productive farm ground was just growing fuel for cars anyway. And remember that fertilizers come from fossil fuels, if we burn it in a car, we can replace nutrients in farm ground we are depleting.

"They need to be replaced at some point, at great expense". When I take the train to SLO, I go through oil fields in Central California that are no longer producing. That oil production is replaced, at great expense, with offshore drilling and fracking. And when the oil is gone, you can't replace it with more oil - the dinosaurs are gone.

Whether or not we get oil from the strait, someone does, and if they can't, we will sell our oil overseas and increase oil prices. Am currently enjoying a nice breakfast with the money I didn't put into my car. Maybe you can eat the gasoline.

Speaking of government subsidies...

No wonder Murph loves living in Cali, all the poors are moving out!

Families are leaving California and saving $672 a month as living costs soar https://share.google/nUTMgi8mjuUVtVbIJ

California becomes playground for the wealthy as families flee
