They also weren't buried in record debt. And just in case you didn't know this, cellphones and laptops didn't exist in the 50s.

Tempo wasn't a thing yet, either.

What about Tempoing?

"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Yeah, because working class people lived modestly,

True, but we didn't know that. We played outside instead of video games, even in the winter.

We had a little black and white TV set that got repaired when it quit working. A local guy came to the house to fix it. He gave us a loaner if he had to take to the shop.

We got 4 channels via 2 antennas. Parents controlled what we watched. We all had chili on Sunday night and watched Lassie,  Dennis the Menace, and Disney.

Not everyone had a car, but most places were within walking distance. Neighbors would help out too. Also, public transportation was maybe an option depending on location.

My family had a private phone line. Some of my friends had party lines.

Doctors made house calls and carried a black bag.

There were lots of public parks with unsafe playground equipment full of relatively unattended children.

There were still outhouses.

I don’t think Custard understands the differences between 1956 and 2026. He sure talks like he doesn’t.

For the record. In 1956 they were 25-30 years from microwaves being a common household item.

They didn’t have TVs in every room and $1000 cell phones and $120 cable bills and laptops. They usually only had one vehicle or took the bus or train.

Took the bus or the train you say? Arch Trumper Randall O'Toole has been the spearhead of the GOP long before Trump to gut mass transit. Are you saying that was a screw up, that we were better off back when we had trains and buses?

Amusingly, if you want to take the Caltrain, you have to pay your fare via that $1000 cellphone. Also needed for most non-high end restaurants these days - hell even you pull into McDonalds and it's "Welcome to McDonalds are you using your mobile app today?"

Well done.
