I really don't care about the Olympics. But this seems like some brat flippantly playing the "mental health" card when there are people with real mental health issues. This is a disservice to them. That is what bothers me.

A much bigger disservice to people with mental illness is to listen to a person who says “I’m having a mental health issue” - especially a sexual assault survivor who has faced more pressure than you can imagine, and who you’ve never met - and saying “I don’t believe you”.

Uh, she is paid for those commercials because those paying her expect her to go to the Olympics and actually perform while there. They aren't paying her to go and then quit after one bad vault.

Imagine being a boss, and employing a young woman who is at the top of her field despite unreal pressure and trauma in her life.  And when one day she messes something up and then says, "I'm sorry, I can't do this, my head isn't in there and I'm hurting the company" you tell her "I don't believe you."
