I am not necessarily a big Gentry fan, but Brad likes him around obviously. He sounds like he is getting and considering offers.

Of concern is the new recruits/transfers who were drawn by Antigua who might now be reconsidering (Bass, Melendez, Payne).

None of this can be considered really OK. This much uncertainty in the middle of roster rebuild is not a good thing.
Antigua had quite a recruiting network reach we have not seen here before. He is huge loss. Roger Powell or the remaining 2 guys do not even have the contacts or rep to get in the game for a Curbelo, or Kofi.

Well we will see what the staff is truly capable of now with OA leaving. PR pipeline gone? Poof?, Where will this leave us with any/all the recruits coming in signed or otherwise? God forbid Belo?

We better hit at least a double with the new hire, since OA was the home run.

Tampering involved with Fredrick from Iowa to Kentucky....OA starts under a possible cloud, like he left his last HC gig? Nothing will happen with this, found it ironic however.

An assistant doesn't run an entire program, obviously OA was good at a very important part but he's not irreplaceable.  We'll probably be fine depending on who we hire.  Having assistants leave to go to better places isn't the worst thing in the world as it will help you attract good ones in the first place.

Agree not end of world, but this guy is in top tier and we will not likely get anyone with the national and international contacts, and who also knows how to navigate the AAU recruiting cesspool.
It was critical for us to be able to recruit on larger geographic and international scale and not be held hostage to Chicago AAU guys especiallly.

Plus he had a serious major rep as a player and bigman coach.

Not sure if there was anything we could have done to be proactive, but it seems like were not playing bigtime ball here.

If those rumored numbers are right for Antigua, I don't blame us for 'not playing big time ball'.  As long as he doesn't take Curbelo with him, I'm okay with not ponying up an absurd amount for Antigua.

Obviously it's possible the numbers are way off too.

The guy he would be replacing is not one of the three assistants, so they still have to make some  changes.

Lots of people were expecting a major disaster when Tony Yates left in 1983. His replacement, Jimmy Collins, did okay.
