His dad and brother on twitter.

So it was a tweet by Kedric that it was stated on a Ryan Evans the child abuser podcast 2 days after he announced his intention to use an NCAA agent to pursue pro options?
Kedric has no further info. Odd.

WTF is Kedric doing hanging around with Ryan Evans??

I have no idea why people like Brad Sturdy, Ryan Baker,  Bob Asmussen, Mark Tupper, and  Kedric Prince follow Ryan Evans.

I have no idea why Trent Frazier's dad went on the Pulse to announce this.

I do know what Ked tweeted and Trent's brother confirmed.

Well, maybe it is true. One might think that Trent would state this, but anything is possible these days.

I think if this is true- then it adds another element to the ongoing crazy Miller saga. Both he and Trent deferred to Ayo and took only 7 shots a game.
Trent does everything better than Miller, would be secondary point guard, and would be getting 12/13 shots/takes a game easily.
Would not prevent Miller from increasing his shots/takes also, but he would not be the man or a primary ballhandler.

Will see if this gets confirmed by a legit news source or Trent.

Not terribly surprising, he doesn’t exactly have a solid pro path. This is going to be one very small backcourt if Miller comes back...

We were small this year at 1-4.
Was a problem. Bigger guards and wings backed us down all year in half court.
We couldn't get our own shot in half court.

Hutcherson is supposedly 6'7" in socks.
The guy will get a chance to start no matter what at the 3 or 4 depending on who comes back.

Yeah but Ayo was 6’5” At least. Miller can’t come back and not start, and Frazier isn’t coming back to be a 6th man either. That’s....a weird starting lineup. I’m guessing not the way they would prefer it looks either

Ayo wasn't bad shooting the passing lanes once in awhile, but on ball defense was nothing special. He had the length and was a lot stronger this year.

Yeah, Miller is going to want a lot of shots and the ball more,  if he comes back as is Trent who still prefers the ball in his hands. And Curbelo does the Nash thing of dribbling deep to find people and likes to score also.
The 4 would be Hutcherson on paper who also was high volume scorer lead guard in D3.

Only one basketball. Lol.

I think you are right they were hoping to get longer, not smaller, but it would be competitive group if Payne can guard at all and they don't get pissed at each other.

I imagine that’s where you hope one of the 6’7” incoming HS recruits can make an impact by mid season, or get a quality transfer. Although I doubt any transfer wants to come in behind Curbelo, Miller or Frazier. And there are rumors of DMW coming back. I refuse to believe in the Hutch thing until I see him playing basketball for Illinois with my own two eyes.

As it stands now maybe looking at a rotation of AC-TF-AM-DMW-Grandison-Hawkins-Kofi and possibly one or both of the freshmen?

Payne is going to likely start

I’d go as far as calling DW back as likely at this point

We would all love to see Kofi back as that makes us a Top 20 team easily, but just don't see a 22 year old guy who wants to get to NBA someday spending another year beating up on college players when he needs full time training against grown men.

I think DMW/Grandison starting makes sense if we had a Kofi back.
As we likely will not, we can't have 2 guys on the floor who can't score and are too small to guard 4's a lot. It hurt us on defense this year all year.

I am very curious about Hutcherson and cautiously optimistic he can play at this level and contribute at least as well as any of the freshmen we are bringing in or Grandison or DMW or Hawkins.
If those videos were of an alleged Top 100 HS incoming recruit people would be excited about a 6'7' shooter with 41" vertical and reasonable ball skills.
After being here at practice for a year- I think a starting job is his to lose unless he cant guard an empty chair or get his shot off which is possible. But both DMW and Grandison need a half hour to load up and take a three, and neither can shoot off the bounce at all.

Hutcherson apparently was by far the best defender of Ayo in practice

When was the last time Hutch played? I thought he was laid up all year and had another back surgery in California?

I’m guessing they think they can turn Payne into defensive specialist who can guard a bunch of positions and not have to switch. Maybe a guy who can gets lobs in transition. I don’t see much else in him.

I don’t think it makes sense for Kofi to come back if his primary goal is a paycheck right now, but maybe this group sees what they did without Ayo when he was out and wants to come back for another run? Kofi’s pro options are limited and there’s no guarantee a team invests in him and gives him an opportunity to work on aspects of his game that may be physically impossible for him.

I do agree with Rob though the only times I’ve seen him shoot midrange he made them and he shot FTs pretty well down the stretch the last two seasons. Although he had games where he looked like it was the first time he ever played. I think his routine of moving his right foot over a few inches right before he sets to shoot is kind of odd.

Good to know.

Ayo had trouble in half court with guys with some length who could stay in front of him which wasn't that hard.
Ayo was great in open court or on the move of course or when he had open midrange.
