Hmmm the website seems to be broken.
My gripe with the Weber factory thermometer is the same one I had with the one on my BGE: The temp at the dome isn’t representative of the temp at the grate. I’ve been using temp probes to establish what the relationship between the two is so I can eventually use the built-in thermometer with confidence. If 325 on the thermometer means 225-250 at the grate I have no problem with that as long as it’s consistent.
The link works for me. Hmmmm
I think the a-maze-n tube, which uses pellets as the smoke source, goes on the cooking grate. A smoker box, as far as the ones that I have tried, need to go underneath the cook grate and onto the heat source. A pita, imo, as is soaking the wood chips.
My Weber factory installed thermometers are consistent after 15 and 20 years, so I've never cared what the cooking grate temp is. And a full propane tank runs hotter than a tank running on empty, so I just keep that in mind when setting my temperature dials.
