Milwaukee, WI
Weather averages
Month High / Low(°F)
December 34° / 25°
January  30° / 20°
February 32° / 21°

Champaign, IL
Weather averages
Month High / Low(°F)
December 38° / 23°
January 33° / 17°
February 38° / 21°

as someone who went to high school near milwaukee, there is a pretty large difference between the two, considering its 225 miles longitudinally... just showing the highs and lows doesn't really do the difference justice... lets just say there's a smaller area under the curve temperature wise for Milwaukee for you calculus dorks out there

Milwaukee is a shit hole.  Went up there a few years ago for a brewers game and stayed a few miles from the ball park at a holiday Inn.  That night someone shot at the hotel and hit a window and numerous amount of cars were broken into in the parking lot.

lol this sounds nearly exactly like my time in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl

Well, Chicago is just a short drive for his wife.

Agree- Milwaukee is not a diverse urban metro area.
Its like a big small town and not the greatest place for a person of color.
Helluva zoo though.

The metro area overall is only 17% African American.
It's 1.5 MM people. Milwaukee itself is less than 600,000, hence the big small town thing. Lots of police and minority tension like a lot of urban city areas.Definitely more diverse in the actual city as you note.

I had close friends live in the city who I visited lot, and they moved to suburbs as things escalated.

I am quite sure Mrs. Shaka will have Groucho living in Shorewood and not in the city.

Let's just say the area is not ATL.

Look up David Clarke.
Lol.

Milwaukee is one of top 35 largest cities in the entire country and has more black than white people but it’s a small non-diverse town. Got it. Glad your friends made it out to the suburbs in one piece.

If you stayed a “few miles away”, then the mistake was on you and you made a bad choice. Most people would know you can stay in the suburbs and get to the park in 10 minutes

Milwaukee is a cool little town.  Easy to get in and get out. Good food options, lots of parking. Like anywhere else, has areas to avoid.

It’s a pretty segregated town. On a scale of 1-10 for an African American, I’d score it about a 4.

A wealthy person like Shaka Smart will likely buy a ritzy north side /north suburb mini mansion like WoJo lived in (Mequon/Cedarburg)

Maybe you need to read up on what a metro area is and what an amenable culture and institutions are for persons of color.
Milwaukee itself has a poverty rate of over 25 %. You can guess who is overrepresented.

Let's see where Mrs. Shaka locates.

You seem to be simplistically equating the  existence of minorities with being a good place to live for them.

Peoria has large African American population. It is only 56% white.  Awful place for minorities to live. I have worked there for 43 years.  The poverty and structural issues are tragic. Manual has grad rate around 50%. We have outreach office on south side.

Maybe this will help.
Milwaukee rated worst city in country for AA. Peoria in top 10.

Yes cities with more black people tend to have more crime and poverty, what are you trying to tell us?

When I don’t like a place I don’t stay there even when I didn’t have any extra money. Then again I had a HS diploma, some job skills and desire to work. I left Midlothian as soon as I was able to retire.

Everyone always says education will fix it but look at McLassie he’s got more education than anyone here and he lives like a hood rat by choice

Just a head scratching move. Dude turned us down for being too whitebread and now he has to live in Milwaukee.

He attended school in Wisconsin and may be from there originally?

Seems the writing was on wall at Texas. Smart (no pun intended) to go somewhere where he gets celebrated as a big deal again. Walk before they make you run.
